🪟 How to Measure Your Windows for Shutters

Brought to you by Kobb Interiors Ltd – Proud Partner of C&C Shutters

Getting the perfect fit for your shutters starts with accurate measurements. Follow this simple step-by-step guide to ensure your windows are ready for a flawless installation.

🔧 Tools You'll Need

  • Steel tape measure (not fabric)
  • Pencil and paper (or phone/tablet)
  • Spirit level (optional but helpful)
  • Step stool or ladder (if needed)

📏 Step 1: Decide Your Mount Type

Inside Mount – Shutters sit within the window recess.
Outside Mount – Shutters sit outside the recess, covering the frame.

✅ Tip: Inside mounts offer a sleek, built-in look. Outside mounts are ideal for shallow recesses or uneven walls.

📐 Step 2: Measure the Width

  • For inside mount, measure the width at three points: top, middle, and bottom of the recess.
  • Record the narrowest measurement.
  • For outside mount, measure the width of the window frame and add at least 50mm on each side for coverage.

📏 Step 3: Measure the Height

  • For inside mount, measure the height at three points: left, centre, and right.
  • Record the shortest measurement.
  • For outside mount, measure from the top of the frame to where you want the shutter to end, adding extra height for overlap.

📐 Step 4: Check for Obstructions

Look out for:

  • Window handles
  • Radiators
  • Tiles or uneven surfaces
  • Deep sills or trims

✅ Tip: Note anything that might affect how the shutter opens or sits.

📸 Step 5: Take Photos

Snap a few clear photos of each window. This helps our design team at Kobb Interiors ensure the best fit and style.
